Christianity is a faith of completeness. As believers we can trust in the desire of God to bring completeness to all of life's situations. We can look to Jesus' life and his ministry for all the answers to the many issues that we face in life. The ultimate answer to the meaning and purpose of life is found in Jesus' death and resurrection.
His death and resurrection show the completeness of God; one does not make sense without the other. Who could comprehend the death of Christ? It made no sense at the time to the people who loved him. God has a purpose in everything he does or allows, and yet at the time it is happening we often find it difficult to understand his purposes.
God requires us to be a people of patience, to wait for him to show us the true meaning – the completeness – of what he will do. Some things do make sense immediately to us mere human mortals, but in other things we will be required to wait upon God for the perfection of his purpose to be revealed.
If we truly trust in God, then just as Jesus' death only made sense in light of his resurrection, so we must continue to trust in him and the sovereignty of his ways, beyond the desperateness of what may seem like a death experience, to look ahead to the days when there will come the completeness of what God wants to achieve.
All that God does is perfect (Deuteronomy 32:4). Ultimately he did not forsake his son on the cross. Although there was great suffering for a while, eventually God's all powerful glory was revealed. Just as God's glory and power were demonstrated through the death and resurrection of Jesus, so too will he bring his completeness into every situation in our lives day by day. The recipe is simple: trust, wait a while, and listen. He is with you and will not forsake you.
